Recently I was teaching a class of seven and eight year old children at St. Mary's School - the lesson was on the vestments that the priest wears but afterwards developed into a discussion on the meaning and significance of the cross. I was both amazed and delighted by the interest and the enthusiasm of the children for "the things of the spirit", they had a thirst and a deep curiosity about spiritual matters.
At one Feering Pram Service we all gathered around the Easter Garden and you could have heard a pin drop as the tiny children reverently lit the candles in the garden representing the first disciples who were privileged to encounter the Risen Lord. We worship a Living Lord and it is a cruel deprivation not to encourage our children to encounter, like the disciples of old, Jesus - the Lord of all life.
In baptism promises are solemnly made to bring up the children "in the way of Christ" and to "help them to take their place within the life and worship of Christ's Church". Don't deprive your children of the saving benefits of the Christian Faith - encourage them to know Jesus as their Lord and Risen Saviour. It is important to establish this relationship with the Lord as soon as possible - that is why we provide a monthly Pram Service so that even in the early years an appropriate act of worship is provided for pre-school age children.
A very warm welcome awaits you at the Pram Services at All Saints'
on the third Wednesday of every month at 11 o'clock.
