(Evidence of A Growing Church?)
What a joy it was to see All Saints' church Feering so full for the CHRISTINGLE CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT service, an encouraging contrast to the previous year. In December 2004 we had many spare Christingles left over - in December 2005 the complete opposite was true.
Many thanks to Greg Waters and the school choir
for their part in the worship.
How splendid it was to see the children, robed
in cassocks and surplices, filling the choir stalls, singing their little
hearts out with such joyful enthusiasm. Thank you also to Desmond
Wood and his All Saints' Music Group for two beautiful seasonal anthems.
If you enjoy singing - why not think seriously about joining the Music
Group?
As a result of the collection - the sum of £219 has been sent off to the Church of England Children's Society.
The St. Mary's, Kelvedon CANDLEMASS CHRISTINGLE takes place at 10.30a.m. on SUNDAY, 5th FEBRUARY. We very much look forward to welcoming the St. Mary's School Choir to that happy occasion.
Another name for Candlemass is, of course, The Presentation of Christ in the Temple - when Mary and Joseph took the infant Lord to the temple in Jerusalem and Simeon sang out his Nunc Dimittis about Jesus being "a light to lighten the Gentiles".
We all need to do all in our power to be a Church
which welcomes children into the fellowship and values the part they have
to play and the contribution they have to make - for didn't Jesus Himself
say - "Suffer the little children to come unto me, forbid them not."
